Bmat, I am sorry that Marcus died as well. Mainly because he died to keep a charachter alive and we never got to really see how that affected Ivanova.

Of course, there was no way that JMS would have known that Claudia Christian was going to leave the show, heck when it all happened there was not suppose to be a Season 5.

If JMS had known there was going to be a Season 5I am not sure how Marcus would have fit in. The Shadow War was over. The Minbari and Human Civil War was over. What could he have done on B5 that would have justified his staying on the station? (shrugs)

But you have a good point, other than being pleasant to watch and observe I guess there wasn't much he could do to advance the storyline.

Actually Wizz, I read somewhere once that Lyta was always intended to be with Byron. JMS even made the point of telling the writers, "Just don't get Lyta involved with a love interest"

I also remember reading that Season 5 was pretty much supposed be as it was, except the final 4 from S4 would have finished up about #2 and #3 of Season 5, although Deconstruction of Falling Stars, I believe was an add in. And, of course Ivanova was meant to still be around

<font face ="Verdana">I remember how the fifth season was so up-in-the-air that JMS decided to get the story finished in season 4, and stretch it when season 5 was announced, if it ever was. With season 4 constructed to finish the story, Lochley had an additional burden, that being part of a story that I think was made up as filler. For instance, if season 5 was a go much earlier, the telepath sequences would have been interspersed rather than lumped together as they were. And, as some have suggested in the news groups, Ivanova would have been the one to get involved with Byron, instead of Lyta. Can you imagine Ivanova after losing two Brits to death? I'm sure there are more instances where the holdup of season 5 made things a bit strained in making the story. Except for Sleeping in Light (and it was really shot for a season 4 finale) the only two season 5 eps I really liked were "A View From the Gallery" and "Day of the Dead", both non-arc stories. The rest was worth watching, but overall, a bit of a letdown. IMnsHO.</font>

Actually Byron was going to be Ivanova's love interest and Lyta was going to be his lead groupie. Can't think of a better word for Lyta, but she was going to be his most ardent follower and take up the cause when he died. That part of the arc stayed the same.

But Ivanova was going to become Byron's love interest which was going to be interesting due to her latent telepathy that she was hiding. Also her inherent distrust of telepaths was going to be a issue I believe.

*sigh* I am still ticked that CC left the show. It would have been interesting to see what was in store for her for season 5.
